📌 Digital activity surged in late February 2026, coinciding with the escalating Iraq-Kuwait dispute over Khawr Abdullah. Hashtags related to the conflict became a platform for mutual recrimination between Iraqi and Kuwaiti accounts, a development closely monitored by the report. The analysis concludes that the political escalation extended into the digital sphere through reciprocal hashtag campaigns and mutual mobilization rhetoric, which contributed to amplifying the interaction surrounding the maritime dispute between the two countries. |
| | | 📌 The report monitors a digital campaign launched concurrently with the US-Israeli strikes on Iran at the end of February 2026, using the hashtag #OurChoiceMaryamRajavi to promote a Ten Point Plan put forward by Iranian opposition figure Maryam Rajavi for Iran post the Islamic Republic. The campaign relied on unverified accounts, some of which are active outside Iran, which contributed to amplifying the political promotion of Rajavi and the National Council of Resistance of Iran, with some accounts supporting the military strikes on Iran. |
| | | 📌 In continuation of the broad campaigns against refugees, our latest report monitored an intensive digital campaign that was launched between January 18 and February 23, 2026, using the hashtags #ترحيل_السوريين_مطلب_أمني (Deporting Syrians is a Security Demand) and #ترحيل_السوريين_من_مصر (Deporting Syrians from Egypt), as part of a wider wave calling for the deportation of refugees. The analysis concludes that the targeting of Syrians came within a more comprehensive mobilization framework against refugees in general, with a noticeable overlap in the hashtags used with previous campaigns that targeted Sudanese and Africans. |
| | | 📌 Our report on the Ramadan series "Men of the Shadows: Operation Serpent's Head," which recounts the capture of the Muslim Brotherhood leader Mahmoud Ezzat in Cairo in 2020 after years in hiding, monitors a wide wave of interaction that accompanied the promotion of the work via the hashtags #رجال_الظل (Men of the Shadows) and #رأس_الأفعى (Serpent's Head).
The analysis also indicates the existence of a network of interacting and coordinated accounts, including commercial and anonymous accounts, that contributed to amplifying the interaction and linking the series' promotion to a political discourse that goes beyond drama. |
